Introduction

Chenies Manor House is a Tudor Grade 1 listed family home of great historical interest based in Chenies Village in the beautiful Chess Valley in Buckinghamshire

Chenies Manor House and gardens are open to the public two days per week, are a popular wedding venue and is also available for corporate hire and filming. In addition there are various events held throughout the year which are open to the public – such as a Plant Fair and Tulip & Dahlia festivals.

As a grade 1 listed building of considerable historical interest, there are few physical changes that can be made to the building to make if fully comply with the terms of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. As a result this statement relates to the existing design of the building with no further works being planned or undertaken and instead focuses on the building’s current design and layout.

Access

Chenies Manor is situated 2.4 miles from M25 junction 18, 1.8 miles from Chorleywood Station and 1.7 miles from Chalfont & Latimer station. A taxi service is available from both stations.

 The main entrance to Chenies Manor is via the Latimer Road and Chenies Village or alternatively directly from the A404 Amersham Road.

Disabled Access and Facilities

Chenies Manor House has the following disabled access/facilities available:

  • Sign posted disabled parking area
  • Disabled toilet facilities
  • Ramp access to the Garden/Tea room (and marquee where appropriate)
  • Access to the house and grounds is free-of-charge for one certified carer accompanying a visitor with disabilities

The gardens and outside areas are mainly on a single level and are accessible to wheelchair users. Please note however that these areas have mainly gravel paths and are also made up of lawned areas – should you require any assistance whatsoever in moving across them then please do not hesitate to ask for assistance from the Chenies Manor team.

The main grade 1 listed house is on various levels.  The main entrance and hallway provide level access. The remainder of the ground floor, although fairly accessible does have a number of small steps as you move from room to room.

The first floor is accessible via a spiral staircase which is inaccessible to wheelchair users and may present some difficulties to those who are not sure footed.

Due to the layout of Chenies Manor House and listed building regulations, it is not possible to install a lift or make it accessible for everyone.
